Will County provides limited electronics recycling at various locations throughout the county, as noted on the Will County Green website.
The library offers occasional shredding events, usually one in the spring and one in the fall, as well as the availability of a secured shredding box in the lobby. The events are held on specific days and provide the community with a place to bring larger amounts of materials to be shredded. Some restrictions apply (limited to five boxes per car and no 3-ring binders). The box in the lobby is intended for smaller amounts of shredding, and once it is full, the library cannot accept additional materials for shredding until the box is emptied by our service. Please bring small amounts of shredding materials to the Patron Services desk.
Shredding Event Dates: TBD
Will County Green and the Will County Land Use Dept., Resource Recovery and Energy Division, sponsor an annual Book Recycling Event each spring at Pilcher Park Nature Center, 2501 Highland Park Dr., Joliet.
Visit Will County Green for more information.
The library also provides the community with a safe and easy place to recycle certain other items. At this time the library accepts the following items for recycling:
- Rechargeable Batteries
These items can be dropped off at the Patron Services desk.
Please note, while the library has accepted all batteries in the past, most batteries are no longer recyclable. Patrons can try calling the Crete Lions Club Recycling Center to verify what batteries and other items they accept.
