Join our enthusiastic, patron-focused staff at a beautiful facility in this pleasant south suburban community (population served 18,000).

Job Description: This staff member is part of a 7-person Youth Services Department that will be responsible for the accurate shelving of library materials and keeping shelves neat. This includes, but is not limited to, reading shelves to make sure everything is in the correct order, shifting books on shelves, keeping books standing straight and in an even row, tightening bookends, and dusting shelves as needed. Other duties include keeping displays stocked, assisting with directional questions, assisting with projects in the Youth Services, and other duties as assigned. Attention to detail is highly desired.

Hours: Part-time, non-exempt (12 hours/week). This individual will be working morning, evening, and weekend shifts, based on department needs. Tentative schedule includes Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9 am to 1 pm.

Requirements: Must be at least 16 years old. Attention to detail and ability to push a fully loaded book cart, lift and carry up to 35 pounds, and stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, sit on the floor and/or climb on kick stools for prolonged periods of time is required. Ability to take instruction is a must, as is establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff and public. Working independently with an ability to manage interruptions and prioritize multiple tasks is highly desirable. Ideal candidate will have a dedication to intellectual freedom, intellectual curiosity, patron privacy, and be energetic, resourceful, tactful, and good-humored. Alphabetical and numeric test required at interview.

Salary: $15-17/hr DOQ

Job Description: The Crete Public Library District is seeking a dependable and service-oriented Facility Specialist to assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our community. This part-time position supports the care, maintenance, and overall operation of Library facilities and grounds, collaborating with staff across departments to ensure the standards of service and safety.

Hours: Part-time, non-exempt (20 hours/week). There is flexibility in how those 20 hours are scheduled.

Requirements: High school diploma or GED required. Minimum one year of custodial or building maintenance experience preferred. Experience with plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, or masonry strongly preferred. General knowledge of use and safety of hand and power tools and ladders. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks independently. Ability to work effectively with diverse staff and community members. Valid Illinois driver’s license in good standing and proof of auto insurance required.

Salary: $20-25/hr DOQ
