Current updates on the spread of COVID-19

Cases of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) in the United States – This Center for Disease Control (CDC) website also contains links to information on symptoms and testing, preventative measures, and more.

Cases of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) in Illinois – This Illinois Department of Health website includes the number of tests performed and a map of Illinois with locations of positive cases.

The Will County Health Department has a Coronavirus hotline number at 1-815-740-8977. The hotline is open to answer questions on Monday – Friday, from 8 am to 4 pm. At this time, the Will County Health Department and the Will County Community Health Center are NOT testing for COVID-19.

How to Spot, Avoid, and Report Coronavirus Scams – Scammers are taking advantage of fears surrounding the Coronavirus. The Federal Trade Commission offers the tips on this flyer to help you fight back.


Federal Government Economic Impact Payments

IRS Economic Impact Payment Information Center – Provides answers to questions about the government payments. Includes information on eligibility.

IRS Get My Payment – Allows you to look up how and when you will receive your payment.

As a reminder: The IRS urges taxpayers to be on the lookout for scam artists trying to use the economic impact payments as cover for schemes to steal personal information and money. Remember, the IRS will not call, text, email, or contact you on social media asking for personal or bank account information – even related to the economic impact payments. Also, watch out for emails with attachments or links claiming to have special information about economic impact payments or refunds.


State of Illinois Unemployment Resources

COVID-19 and Unemployment Benefits – Unemployment benefits may be available to some individuals whose unemployment is attributable to COVID-19. View these questions and answers about applying for unemployment during the COVID-19 pandemic.

COVID-19 Related Financial Assistance for Small Businesses – Provides links to financial resources for small business impacted by the pandemic.

Illinois Department of Revenue – Provides information and resources to help llinois taxpayers, businesses, and others affected by the coronavirus.

My Tax Illinois – Taxpayers who have already filed a return can check the status of their return by logging into My Tax Illinois.


Food

Will County Food Resources – Use this page to find special shopping hours at grocery stores and pharmacies for seniors and those with compromised immune systems, free school meals, and food pantries.

Trinity Lutheran Church in Crete is offering assistance to the elderly and people at high risk with picking up and delivering items from grocery stores and pharmacies. Complete a help request form. For more information, call the church at 708-672-8125.

SNAP is the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program to help low-income people and families buy the food they need for good health. Benefits are provided on the Illinois Link Card, an electronic card that is accepted at most grocery stores.


Free/Low Cost Internet

The National Digital Inclusion Alliance – Various broadband providers and mobile carriers are offering free or low-cost internet access in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This National Digital Inclusion Alliance chart provides information on internet service providers and how to apply for their offers.
