Join our enthusiastic, patron-focused staff in a beautiful facility in this pleasant south suburban community (population served 18,000).

Job Description: This staff member is part of a 7-person Youth Services Department that will be regularly working the Youth Services Information Desk by providing basic reference services and reader’s advisory. Duties include aiding Youth Services Assistants with programming, assisting with the creation of bulletin boards, displays, booklists, and positively promoting services and programs offered by the library.

Hours: Part-time, non-exempt (18 hours/week), with an ability to be flexible. This individual will be working multiple morning, evening and weekend shifts, based on department needs.

Requirements: High School Diploma with at least two years experience working with children. Some college course work or LTA preferred. Excellent people skills is a must, as is a high tolerance when assisting the public. Knowledge and experience with various forms of technology is required, as is the ability to assist patrons with use. Ideal candidate will have a dedication to intellectual freedom and intellectual curiosity and be energetic, resourceful, tactful, and good-humored.

Salary: $12.00/hr DOQ
