In celebration of National African American History Month, the Crete Public Library is proud to present a special performance by Mama Africa and the Mafric Drumming & Dance Ensemble.

Mama Africa, also known as Elizabeth “Lizzy” Hammond-Apea, was born in Ghana and has been performing as a cultural dancer,  drummer, actress, composer, singer, and choreographer since she joined the Soul Cultural troupe in 1967. She has traveled around the world and won several awards for her work. She will bring several talented drummers and dancers to the Crete Public Library to perform some of their works in honor of African American History Month.
