Visiting the Youth Services Department

Before you visit us, please make sure to read our Safe Child Policy. We welcome children of all ages to our department and have a wide variety of fun things to do! You can view and sign up for youth programs online by visiting our Crete Public Library Children’s Programs Calendar. Most of our programs require sign up, and space may be limited.

Early Literacy AWE Station

We have two Early Literacy AWE Stations for children to use. The AWE Station is designed specifically for our youngest patrons, ages 2-8, and features over 4,000 localized learning activities. The fun, interactive, and engaging content spans all seven curricular areas: math, science & nature, social studies & geography, reading, art & music, writing & computer skills, and reference.

Visit AWE Stations’s website for more information.

Baby Bag

Bring your infant (24 months or younger) to the library for a visit, too! We offer new Crete Public Library District parents a free baby board book, along with a bag filled with information about early literacy. Learn how you can make a huge difference in your child’s reading ability from this early age.

Youth Computers

The Youth Services Department has four (4) computers available to children age 11 and under. Written permission from a parent or legal guardian is required for all internet users age 17 and under. A parent or responsible adult must accompany all internet users age 8 and under.

Youth Education iPads

The library has three (3) iPads filled with fun and educational apps for little ones to play with.
