   The Board of Library Trustees of the Crete Public Library District meets on the third Wednesday of the month (except December) at 7:00 p.m.  In addition, there are occasionally other planning sessions, workshops and attendance at community meetings.

Library Trustees have three basic duties:

  1. Policy-making and planning - to establish and revise policies through careful study and thoughtful discussion, that determine the proper course of action.

  2.  Finance - to advise and approve budgets, seeing that the library has the necessary funds available to run the library.  To promote referendums and bond levies if necessary, stimulating gifts and endowments.

  3. Community Relations - to see that the community understands the goals and objectives of the library, to promote good public relations whenever possible.

  4.  Other duties include the selection of the administrative librarian, evaluation of programs and services, maintenance of property, cooperation with public officials and other organizations, and awareness of community changes, trends, needs and interests.
