1000 Books Before Kindergarten:
Crete Public library challenges children and parents to read 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten.
What is it?
This program is designed to help parents prepare their children for one of life’s biggest milestones: kindergarten. An excellent way to get your child ready to learn is to read to them. Any child from birth to entering Kindergarten can participate in this self-paced early literacy program.
How does it work?
Sign up and receive your logbook to keep track of the number of books you read. Repetition is fine, so feel free to read the same title again and again. Books you hear at storytime count too!
When you finish 100 books, bring your logbook back to receive a new one for the next 100. Keep repeating the process, picking up sheets for your next 100 books. You will receive a prize at the 100, 300, 700 and 1000 level! Prizes are subject to change.
